Small and simple things
Alma 37:6 Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.
I love this scripture and the idea that goes with it that small actions can change our lives. I know that this is true and real. I have seen it work over and over again in my life.
Some Small things I have a testimony of
- Prayer it doesn't take much time or effort, it doesn't cost any money anyone can do it for free. No matter where you are or even in your thoughts you can pray but huge miracles are wrought through prayer. It is a powerful small thing and I know it works!!
-Scripture study, The power that flows into my life when I make time to study and ponder the words of God is immeasurable. I am buoyed up throughout my day and blessed to know the best direction and choices to make.
-Family meals and family scripture study- These are times of great meaning and connection. There are multiple study's that show those who gather as a family have greater power to overcome the evil that would destroy their families. I love Elder Bednar's promise that we will be blessed as we try-- It won't be perfect but each effort will be magnified by the Lord.
Promise and Testimony
I suspect that some of you may be wondering if your gospel learning actually can become home centered and Church supported. Perhaps you are the only member of the Church in your home, or have an unsupportive spouse, or are a single parent, or live alone as a single or divorced Latter-day Saint, and you may have questions about how these principles apply to you. You may be a husband and a wife looking at each other and questioning, “Can we do this?”
Yes, you can do this! I promise that enabling blessings will flow into and be evident in your life. Doors will open. The light will shine. Your capacity will be increased to persevere diligently and patiently.
I joyfully witness that compensating blessings will come as we strive to fulfill our individual responsibility to learn and love the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We truly can “be prepared to obtain every needful thing.” I so promise and testify in the sacred name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.
We can do the small things and let God worry about the big ones. For I promise He will as we do what we can.
Some times I feel like I am a small thing-- But like David when he was willing to go before the Giant Goliath we can be made more than we could have ever supposed!!
I love the Lord, Jesus Christ and am looking forward to celebrating his birth, life and love for each of us!!
Love
Mom
